Hey friends! Happy Friday. I hope you all had a great week! Got any big weekend plans? Well, besides Easter 🙂 We are doing an Easter lunch with my family. I haven’t quite decided what I am bringing but it will be totally healthy and, of course, delicious! I might actually post about it so stay tuned for that!
Anyway, we have far more serious business to talk about! Do you remember those not so healthy pizza rolls in the freezer section at the grocery store? I’m 99% sure I lived off of those in my teenage years! LOL! Well guess what? I have created a delicious and very healthy recipe that actually taste better than the store bought pizza rolls. And what’s better than making your own food and knowing exactly what ingredients are in it? These things are so dang good I could literally eat 20 of them! Haha, but I will have some self control and not eat quite that many 🙂
Shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh basil or Italian seasoning
*Use either a non stick baking sheet or use the method I use (cover it in tin foil and spray with a non stick cooking spray). I always use this method because it’s just so much easier when clean up time comes. That’s what we all want, right?
Start by laying out your wonton wrapper, add a little marinara sauce (about a teaspoon). It doesn’t have to be exact, just add enough or as little as you would like. Follow that with some cheese and top it off with pepperoni if you want them (but they are totally optional).
Fold them corner to corner (see pic below) and use a little water on your finger to seal them shut. Place on your baking sheet and spray the top of your pizza rolls with Pam (this makes them crunchy on the outside, giving them the fried texture without actually frying them). Cook at 425 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Oven time may vary so make sure to keep an eye on them!
Serve with a little ranch or marinara or just enjoy them how they are!!!!! My husband loves to dip them in Sriracha! To each their own!
These are great for game night or really just any night. They are wonderful for a side dish, kid snack, and they are just so versatile. Who doesn’t love a healthy and delicious pizza roll?!
We have these for dinner and just add a side of veggies with them (because you got to eat your veggies!)
